Titanic

The Hunley was probably the worlds first real submarine.  It was certainly the first submarine to sink a warship.  Named after the man who financed its construction in Louisiana during the Civil War, the Hunley was put into the service of the Confederacy defending the port of Charleston, South Carolina.
